The bristles are soft and don't shed, but it can be a bit annoying to use. I'd find it folding often, but that's really it. It's very convenient and can also make nice little gifts!We love these. Kids drop them and leave them everywhere but they don’t get gross if they are left out because they fold. Keeps brush clean in the toiletry bag.Some negatives are that the brush hairs initially lost a couple of bristles and one annoyingly stuck out proud from the rest (repaired with nail clipper), plastics not the best for the environment. The inside handle is sharp and is slightly uncomfortable in the hand.I will recycle the old brushes but would love if the company used recycled plastics. Also if they could improve the quality a bit - it isn't terrible quality but could be improved to secure the bristles and handle comfort.
